Chaodic Records Biography

Chaodic Records, a bourgeoning hip-hop label formed by Scott Marshall in May of 2006, is quickly becoming much more than its owner and creator expected or ever intended. Though rooted in Marshall’s hometown of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, the company has satellite offices in Miami and New York City. A sole proprietorship, Chaodic may only be two years in the making, but Marshall is confident that it has the potential to go head to head with its industry counterparts. Pennsylvania had better be prepared.

“Never in my life was it a plan, not even a dream, of mine to start my own company, let alone my own label. Chaodic Records came about after an investment I’d made in a friend’s music endeavor went south. I had already poured a couple thousand dollars into recording equipment and couldn’t justify letting it go to waste. At that time I was just a hip hp fan, but I saw an opportunity and I had to take advantage of it”.

The transition came fairly naturally for Marshall although his background was not indicative of hip-hop. He graduated from high school with colleges touting him to play both football and basketball, but chose instead to serve in the military. Upon returning home from the reserves, he attended Kutztown University, however his curriculum was cut shot when he was forced to return home to take care of his ailing mother. What then commenced for Scott were several years of regular 6 AM to 5 PM employment. During that time, he did contract work for a magazine company which required him to make many visits to Philadelphia. While there, he immediately took note of the impressive urban sound Philadelphia offered, but what he found to be missing were comparably impressive area record labels. With every intention to change that paradigm, Marshall set out to tip Pennsylvania’s hip-hop scale. “If I have anything to say about it, Pennsylvania WILL receive the prestige it so rightly deserves; it WILL be a major player in the music industry,” says Marshall.

Chaodic Records currently has two artists on its roster; G. Stone from Long Island, New York and Seryiouz from Chicago, Illinois. DJ Cue EZ from Cleveland, Ohio has also signed on and hopes to bring Chaodic to a club near you. The label has scheduled three releases for 2008 and prompting the series is G. Stone’s debut LP entitled “Commanding General”. It drops February 26th 2008 and features producer Redhead Kingpin. Seryiouz will be releasing his first album, “Electric Liquid”, some time this summer (TBA)and DJ Cue EZ is set to introduce the listening public to several artists from the Cleveland area once his compilation hits stores.

I want to run Pennsylvania hip hop! No, I want to run hip hop period.  I want clout in Philadelphia like Diddy has clout in New York. You won’t hear me on any tracks; that’s not my thing, I’m a behind the scenes kind of guy. I want longevity like Def Jam. I am in this for the long haul. I want to produce stars. I want to produce legends”, says Marshall. While these may seem like lofty ambitions coming from a man who, until recently, worked in accounts receivable, Scott thinks otherwise because this time around he’s working with not only the ambition, but also the dream.

Chaodic Records is ready to hoist Pennsylvania hip hop onto its shoulders.
