P-Duble >> I Am Different
For most, if you were to name the city of Columbus, Ohio and leave off the name of the state, they wouldn’t know whether you were talking about Columbus, Georgia, Indiana, or who knows where? For resident rapper Keith “P-Duble” Scarlett, though, there has been no time recently to rest on his journey into the rap world. “It’s all about the grind,” explains the 34-year-old MC. “Making waves and helping to put a city like Columbus on the map is enough motivation for anyone from here to keep goin, ‘cause it don’t happen often. Add in the fact that we’re all in this together [from the Midwest] and that I can help out all the other young aspiring artists, makes it even more of a factor to be on point.”
P-Duble’s plan began to take shape in 2006, when he dropped his first mixtape since 1999, titled “No One.” After honing his skills doing regional shows, P-Duble decided it was time to take his message on the road. However, before he could do so, he dropped his 2007 EP titled, “My Album About Me,” which was produced by Quite Stankable Productions for Pike Street Music and in conjunction with Stay Beat Music, LLC. This project featured Ty Wills, Freeze, Noel and T-Huzzie and set the stage for his “My Tour About Me,” which spanned many states and covered almost the entire summer of 2007.
P-dub’s re-emergence into the greater rap populace has come with the release of his self-produced newest album; “If I Die….” This project hit the streets on June 1, 2008. Featuring fellow Ohioans Ty Wills, T-Huzzie and BW + LX; as well as St. Louis native, Luppy. The project also features guest appearances from Indiana’s Bridget Winterman and platinum artist Mims. Co-Produced by Quite Stankable Productions, P-Duble is looking forward to what lies ahead. “I feel like 08’ is gonna’ change. My family’s life is gonna’ change. My daily life is gonna’ change. The year is gonna’ bring more saved souls-more Jesus, more blessings, more trials and more tribulations…This is what the future has in store from my Lord.”
