Sammie Lee is a multi-talented recording artist, DJ and producer who was born and spent his younger years in New York City and raised in Chicago . Growing up in “The Chi” is where Sammie Lee developed his unique style of music, which is directly influenced by the deep multiculturalism of Chicago and its surrounding areas ( Lincoln Park , Uptown, and Edgewater).
Sammie Lee’s journey began in 1992 when his late and great uncle Robert Earl Hill bought him his first electronic keyboard. This keyboard would become the catapult for Sammie Lee’s musical career. He played his keyboard alongside his mother, a gospel singer, and Robert, a blues artist. In 1993, Sammie Lee bought his first pair of turntables from a neighborhood secondhand store with his own money that was saved from his weekly allowance. These turntables were really primitive - no pitch control, no belt drive and no curve arms - just your regular, run of the mill turntables from the late 1970s and early 1980s. However, Sammie did manage to get a brand new mixer, a Gemini. Other than that, though, it was a trying time for young Sammie Lee!
At age 13, Sammie Lee was signed by Code 3 Records, Chicago ’s leading Latin House and Acid House label at the time. He founded two bands, Internal Sanctuary and T3 Tech, and a group named Endiskize who is still in the music game today. Sammie Lee has also produced tracks for Kickin’ Kim K and Legacy, and worked with various artists such as Fast Eddie and Larry “Amazing” Thompson. Sammie Lee’s music has also been featured in several indie films, commericials, and television programs.
Sammie Lee’s last recording was "For the Love of Music" released by Trax Records in 2000. Trax Records, founded in the early 1980s by Larry Sherman and Vince Lawrence, was one of two original Chicago House music labels (the other being D.J. International Records). Trax Records was responsible for the release of "Acid Tracks" by Phuture, "Move Your Body" by Marshall Jefferson, and many other records that shaped the Chicago and Acid House sounds throughout the early 1990s.
Sammie Lee's current project is entitled "Dream Life" and will be a self-released title due out in Fall 2008. Dream Life will take you to places far away from the outer world and into your own inner sanctuary. It is one of Sammie Lee’s greatest creations yet! Sammie Lee also has remixes of “Lollipop” by Lil’ Wayne and other mixes and remixes that are a must hear!!! Sammie Lee is currently planning his first world tour, slated to begin in 2010, which will begin in Australia, take him to China, over to Europe, and back into the Americas, where it all began back when Sammie was just a little boy with his first set of turntables!
Sammie Lee - he's a producer, remixer, live performer, writer, composer, and overall, a smart, business-minded artist who does what he does for the people and most of all, he does it "4 D Luv of Music…"
